The Grand Strand Master Gardeners Association is a private association of individuals who have been certified as "South Carolina Master Gardeners" by Clemson University Extension and who live on or near the Grand Strand area of coastal South Carolina. The Grand Strand includes portions of Georgetown and Horry Counties and the communities of Georgetown, Pawleys Island, Murrells Inlet, Surfside, Atlantic Beach, Garden City, Myrtle Beach, North MB, and nearby towns. To read about the history of Master Gardeners and to learn how you can become one and join us, please click on "Becoming a Master Gardener" to the left.
The MG program is a two-part educational effort in which avid gardeners are provided many hours of intense home horticulture training and in return they "pay back" Clemson and its Extension Service through 40 hours of volunteerism. Master Gardeners assist with garden lectures, exhibits, demonstrations, school and community gardening, phone diagnostic service, research, and many other projects. For GSMGA projects, click here.
The mission of the Clemson Extension Master Gardener Program is to select, train, and utilize knowledgeable volunteers to facilitate the educational work of the local Consumer Horticulture Agent by delivering researched-based information to citizens of the state.
